Some of our fundraising efforts include, but are not limited to:

Christmas Family Adoption Program:

SAVE THE DATES... DECEMBER 8TH, AND 10TH

Volunteers are needed to help with the myriad of details that go into making our Christmas Baskets event successful. Details that need attention include family adoptions, toy drive, food drive, toiletry drive, wrapping party and delivery of the baskets. Please think about where you may be able to help! Please see Christmas Baskets page for more details.

Our largest service program began in 1949, by providing food baskets to needy families during the holidays. Over the years, the program has evolved into a community-wide project with over 130 families adopted. Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club (GEJWC) organizes and oversees the collection and distribution of food (in collaboration with the Salvation Army who provides basic perishable and nonperishable pantry items), clothing, basic necessities, toys (via our community toy drive), and household goods. Member volunteers organize, wrap, and deliver (with the help of the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Department) the Christmas baskets to the adopted families before Christmas, ensuring that the receiving families have a truly Merry Christmas.

Glen Ellyn Garden Walk

Our largest Spring/Summer endeavor, GEJWC hosts the annual Glen Ellyn Garden Walk, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Bridge Communities, Inc. a dynamic, grassroots, nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of homeless families in DuPage County. The Glen Ellyn Garden Walk has become the unofficial gateway into summer featuring approximately six private gardens, located throughout historic Glen Ellyn. GEJWC manages and oversees every aspect of this longstanding Glen Ellyn tradition. Garden Walk committee members scout gardens, secure local sponsorship, plan event activities, create promotional materials, and organize volunteers. Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club volunteers manage the event to ensure Garden Walk runs smoothly and is a tremendous success. In 2014, the Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club presented Bridge Communities a check for over $10,000.00! Thanks to these funds, one Bridge Communities family will be housed for an entire year.

Jolly Grams

Jolly Grams are letters from Santa, personalized for your loved ones with details that make it "authentic". Jolly Grams arrive in your mailbox during the holiday season, encouraging the little ones to keep up the good work and add a touch of wonder and magic to this special time of year. To top it off, the letters are postmarked all the way from the North Pole!

Co-Presidents Kristin Moore and Beth Rosch, event coordinators, will be looking for many volunteers to personalize these letters and get them out in time for Christmas. Juniors has spent a lot of time automating the process to make it fun and easy for all those who help. Any time you can offer toward this event will be appreciated! If interested in volunteering, please contact Kristin, kristin6333moore@gmail.com or Beth bruinbessie@aol.com
